1 Cor 9:24 "Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain."

Winning a race requires purpose and discipline. Paul saw life sort of like a "spiritual Olympics" (vs 25) and urged Christians everywhere to stay in spiritual shape (2 Tim 2:5). No race, if won, is ever run without a "training schedule" (bring it into subjection - vs 27). The race will hurt, expect it. You don't train so it won't hurt, you train so you can endure it.

Those who fail to train spiritually run pitifully; you run the race you train for... HSAY

Heb 6:1 “Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,”

The foundation of faith that we lay in our life is what God will use for another to stand on. In (1 Chron 20:8) we see David’s servants slaying the giants from Goliath with the strength of faith they saw and garnered from David himself. The Father himself lifted us out of a miry pit and placed us on a solid foundation and established our goings (Pro 40:2). We too need to lay forth a solid foundation of faith for others to see and stand upon.

Don’t shine so that others can see you, shine so that others can see Jesus through you… HSAY

2Ti 1:7 “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

Paul encourages Timothy concerning his personal ministry not to succumb to fear and the anxiety associated. It was fear that the servant buried his talent (Mt 25), illustrating the poor stewardship, in fear, of the gifts God’s given us in order to minister to others. God counters our fears through the power of His Spirit, the promise of His Love and a sound/peaceful mind. Like the promise of His “power” which comes from the Greek word (dynamis) from which we get the word dynamite; God has given us an explosive spirit in which to overcome our fleshly fears.

Fear arises when we imagine that everything depends on us… HSAY

Heb 12:11 “Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless, afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby

We will always grow greater in character and wisdom through pain than we will prosperity. And yet man labors and lusts after prosperity while exerting great effort in avoiding the pain of correction. When unavoidable we’re prone to accept it with resignation, self-pity or anger. But those who learn to accept it with gratefulness have grown to learn the blessing it is; knowing the Father’s love. Correction is the judgement of faith, declaring that a sanctified affliction at the hand of the Father produces the fruits of righteousness.

We must allow the Word of God to correct us the same way we allow it to encourage us…HSAY

Gen 21:6 “And Sarah said, God hath made me to laugh, so that all that hear will laugh with me.”

Has the miraculous work of God’s hand ever caused you laugh in bewilderment! God’s providence is the brightest when compared with His Word and measured against man’s inability to replicate it. Such was Isaac’s birth, promised and delivered in God’s perfect time. He is faithful who has promised, and God’s faithfulness is the stay of our faith. God is purposeful and punctual in His promises. Be patient and be ready to laugh so contagiously in God’s providence that others laugh (rejoice) with you!!

A lack of laughter in your faith is a lack of hope in God faithfulness… HSAY

Gen 20:17 “So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife…; (18) For the LORD had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham's wife.”

Why did God punish Abimelech for Abraham’s sin, he had no idea Sarah was married?  Even though Abimelech's intentions were good, as long as Sarah was living in his harem he was in danger of sinning. A person who eats a poisonous mushroom, thinking it's harmless, no doubt has perfectly good intentions—but will still suffer. The effect of sin can fall on those around us as well. Abimelech’s house suffered infertility as long as the sin was ever present. But God’s punishment was not in wrath but to protect the innocent caught in the sin. Be grateful, God’s mercy protects us from not getting what we deserve… our sin or not.

God’s mercy is bigger than any of our mistakes (Lam 3:22-23), knowingly or unknowingly … HSAY

Eph 4:15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ.

Speaking truth in love sounds simple, but often it’s only perceived by the one speaking it and not by him who’s receiving it. Some of us are good at being loving, but we don't have it in us to level with others if the truth is painful, the instruction here is to do both. Don’t let your problems with others in the church family be planted in the ears of another. In (Gal 6:1) we’re told to restore each other in meekness, considering we ourselves could stumble. With humility that is wrapped in love let us encourage each other and help them to correctly carry their as we correctly carry our own.

Don’t look down on another unless you’re extending a hand to lift them up… HSAY
