 1Co 1:5  “That in every thing ye are enriched by him…”

October of 2020, a violent hurricane in S. India that took lives, destroyed property leaving mass devastation, also left gold on the beaches, and washed away the topsoil revealing gold deposits on properties more than $8M. Ever had a metaphorical storm in your life that drove you to your knees in acts of prayer and by and by the storm passes, forgotten but the sweetness of the Spirit‘s presence during remained, warming the soul? Storms may not bring/leave physical riches, but they can often wash away the layers of life’s soil that hide the wealth of the Lord in our lives, leaving a spiritual wealth that remains long after the rainbows are gone. God may not give us an easy journey to the promised land, but He will give us a safe one that’s blessed and filled with everything we need for the journey.

It’s not what we lose in this life, but what we gain in the Lord that’s true wealth… HSAY

 Psa 37:16 ‘A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.’

Wealth isn’t defined by quantity, but rather quality. Meaning little is much when God is in it! The truly rich aren’t those who have the most. The truly rich are those who need the least. Pro 15:16 ‘Better is a little with the fear of the Lord than great treasure and the trouble therewith.’

Solomon had said in the foregoing verse that he who has not a large estate, or a great income, but a cheerful spirit, has a continual feast; Christian contentment, and joy in God, make the life easy and pleasant. Such wealth cannot be overspent, stolen, or ill-invested and its returns are eternal whose righteousness is in the Lord.

Wealth is worthless on the day of wrath, only righteousness returns a reward… HSAY

Daily Wisdom

“… godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.” 1 Tim 4:8

Let us not confuse earthly wealth with eternal wealth. According to (Pro 11:4) riches profit not in the day of God’s judgement, but righteousness delivers us from His wrath. We increase the value of our days by focusing on value, not valuables. When I set my mind on the things Christ that offer eternal value, the proprieties of my investments change. Father help me to know where true value and treasures lie and fully abandon everything else to secure it (Mt 13:45-46). Where your treasure is so follows your heart (Mt 6:21)!

Those who lay up treasures in Heaven looks forward to the wealth of eternity… HSAY

“Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him.” Jm 2:5

James while addressing our “serving” faith in comparison to our “saving” faith makes a strong point. But, not to bring up old wounds, maybe at onetime we’ve all been the last one chosen on the playground for group participation by the so-called more popular kids. We’ve all felt that sting of low self-worth by their standard of comparison through their choices.  But, again notice James points out that our true worth and value is described by the One who offers no respecter of person and clarifies that in comparison to worldly standards the ones who are often last picked, so-to-speak, are often the ones chosen by the Lord. Be willing to take the lowest sit and let the Lord, for His glory, bade you to come forward (Lk 14:10).  Eternal worth comes in “serving” not managing, relationships not financial security, and peace not power. Shallowness is the individual who cannot see past the apparel and appearance and see the value of a soul.  One will never make themselves eternally better by who they have around them, but only who they have within them!  One can amass the deepest wealth and have the emptiest heart, where’s the value?

Only him who is “rich in faith”, finds God’s favor!

It’s not important when you’re picked, but rather who picked you that defines your worth.

“…our craft is in danger to be set at nought;” Acts 19:27

The people of Ephesus and the craftsmen were more worried about their loss of money from making false idols than they were the truth Paul was preaching. The love of money and wealth in general encouraged them to hide their greed behind the mask of loyalty; not seeing their selfish motives.  Men are jealous for that by which they get their wealth/pleasure; and many stubbornly and unreasonably set themselves against the gospel of Christ for such idols made by human hands. Riches can’t buy day, but righteousness provides eternity (Pro 11:4). He is rich who is content in Christ; for contentment is the wealth of God.  There is no greater wealth than wisdom in God and no greater poverty than ignorance; the Gospel is a call to self-denial, not self-fulfillment.

Some people are so poor, all they have is money.

“Be ye not as your fathers… (6) But, my words and my statues, which I commanded, did they not take hold of your fathers?...”  Zech 1:4; 6

God’s children held on or possessed everything but the truth and refused to turn towards God. Causing Zechariah to remind them in vs 6, all that God prophesied took hold of their fathers. Be cautious to never hold on to anything stronger than you do Jesus. Life can be compared to going grocery shopping while hungry, enticed to grab what looks good rather than what we need. Know that what you hold to holds you; be it temporal relationships, careers, money or even a ministry can hold you back from what you need to posses the most, Jesus. For the rich young ruler he chose to hold to the wrong possessions (Mt 19) and missed eternal wealth.  The nails did not hold Jesus to the cross, His love for you did.  In the same manner don’t allow the world to hold you, but rather His love for you; it’s your greatest possession.

It takes a lot more effort to hold than it does to be held!

“When I call into remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee…” 2 Tim 1:5

Timothy benefited greatly from his relationships with his mother and grandmother who illustrated to him the strength of their unfeigned (sincere) faith, which even Paul was able to bring into remembrance.  Remember what you want, but if what is remembered is not worth remembering, what’s it worth.  Is your faith/testimony worth remembering? Your life should be able to make non-believers to question and believers to immolate. Lived in a way that your faith is seen as a love letter written by God to the world. The greatest wealth you can leave comes from a “will” that you’re writing every day before others, and though it can’t be spent, it will provide immeasurable worth. What you accomplish becomes history, what you embrace becomes a testimony that is remembered.

Live what you want to leave!

“Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.” Col 3:24

The greatest wealth comes not by whom you’re born to, but by Him who adopts you. In His infinite love, God has adopted us as His own children. Through Christ suffering, brought us into His family making us co-heirs (Rom 8:17) to the riches of His grace and wisdom.  The poorest of man has the ability to gift the richest inheritance through Christ. The greatest treasure lies in heaven, the best way to store it up is by investing in getting others there.  Like a spiritual mutual fund, investing in Gods will bring the greatest returns.   

Don’t long for an inheritance that can buy the world, seek one that can change it.
