Zech 4:6 … Not by might, nor by power, but my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.

Zerubbabel was given the responsibility of rebuilding the Temple in Jerusalem. As the work was being completed, the prophets encouraged Zerubbabel and told him of a time when spiritual apathy and foreign oppression would be overcome. Many believe that to succeed/survive in this world a person must be tough, strong, unbending, and harsh. But God says, "Not by force nor by strength, but by my Spirit." The key words are "by my Spirit." All that man accomplishes or builds by his hands eventually falls. It’s only through God's Spirit that anything of eternal lasting value is accomplished (Hos 1:7).

Real strength isn’t found in a man’s hands, but in the feet of those who steps are led by the Lord’s Spirit… HSAY

Daily Wisdom

“O Lord, by these things men live, and in all these things is the life of my spirit: so wilt thou recover me, and make me to live.” Isa 38:16

There can be existence without life (Eze 37:4), Ezekiel prophesied to the dry bones to come into existence, but there cannot be life without the Spirit of God breathed into it: “Thus saith the Lord God unto these bones; behold, I will cause breath (spirit) to enter into you and ye shall live.” (vs 5). One can live, but one cannot have life separate from the Spirit of God. Isaiah proclaims the goodness of God and celebrates his praise for what He had done. By “these things”, the promises of the word, God sustains us through the power of the Spirit that gives us true life, not just living. It was the Spirit that brought life upon earth in Gen 1:2 after it was void of such life. It was the Spirit that brought life back into Jesus from the grave. We can live, but we can’t obtain life without the power of the Spirit.  Know, we are not designed to be human beings having a spiritual experience… We are called to be spiritual beings having a human experience.

Don’t lesson life to just living by avoiding the power of the Spirit that dwells within you.

“And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment.” Jn 16:8

Jesus himself told us that it was better for him to depart than to stay so we can be en-gifted with the Holy Spirit (vs 7). With the purpose to comfort (intercede) us in the Father’s will, not to our service; the Holy Spirit is for our comfort, not our control. This verse establishes the Spirit’s purpose to reprimand or censor the actions in the spirit of man when it comes to sin, righteousness and judgment., all which man struggles with. Man is prone to suppress his sin, reflect his righteousness and justify his judgment, which greatly hinders God’s will being done in his life. The Holy Spirit intercedes where man interrupt’s by empowering us to acknowledge our sin as what it is, not suppressing it; clarifying we have no reward of righteousness outside of God’s, and our jurisdiction is not to judge others, but rather ourselves in the Father’s will. “You might as well try to see without eyes, hear without ears, or breath without lungs, as to try to live the Christina life without the Holy Spirit.”  A soul of a man without the Spirit moving in him is like a ship without wind, it accomplishes nothing good and for God!  

To be filled with the Spirit, you must be emptied of self.

“Then had the churches rest throughout all Judaea and Galilee and Samaria, and were edified; and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Ghost, were multiplied.”  Acts 9:31

There is a place for strategic church planning and vision (Pro 29:18), and they are wise stewardship.  But they cannot equal or generate the astonishing outcome illustrated by the church in Acts.  You’ll never find within the scriptures man-made strategic planning for church growth. But, you’ll find the answer to their growth that brought a multiplier greater than any modern church has ever seen. The “fear of the Lord” and the “Holy Spirit.”  In the fear of the Lord, they were teachable, humble, grateful and eternally focused. They were void of self-assurance, pride, arrogance and worldliness. They were willing to submit to the Lord’s wisdom and will. In the Holy Spirit, they were gladdened, felt forgiven, strengthened and found reconciliation with both God and others. They saw with clarity Jesus being greater than their sins and failures, and knew they were loved. The had openness in a know-it-all world, peace amongst an angry world and hope against hopelessness. In such assurances and strength the godless world had no answer for their peculiar (1 Pt 2:9) hope. No, they may not have had implemented strategic goals, but they did implement and share the “fear” and “power” of God before the people and it turned the world upside down. Church growth takes planning, but church multiplication takes a miracle, and that’s God area of expertise. Remember peace and joy are not a place, but a direction.  Interesting when the whole world is running towards the cliff, the one running the other direction appears foolish.

Don’t fear being outnumbered. Eagles fly alone, turkeys flock together. (Pro 3:6)
