 Psa 127:1 “Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.”

The problem that we are facing in the church today is that we have so many who have made a decision to believe in Jesus but not a commitment to follow Him. The church has believers who are planning to, meaning to, trying to, wanting to, going to, it just doesn't have many Christians who are doing it. It matters not how I build my life/family, if it’s not built by the Lord’s plans and in His purpose, my labor is in vain, and I’ll fail to experience the abundance that only the Lord can provide. May my commitment be not in my plans, but in Lord’s and making Him my highest priority and “Masterbuilder( 1 Cor 3:10)” for my life.

May we be committed though never seeing the final plans, that’s the difference between the Masterbuilder and us, the laborer in His plans… HSAY

 Gal 1:10 ‘For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.’

Very simple, ‘No man can serve two masters…’ (Mt 6:24). One may defend their actions by stating man is not a master, only God. Why then do we try to please man’s interest or desire his approval, would that not be the due the Master only? Paul was spiritually blunt and straightforward with the Galatians and their dangerous efforts. If you’re right by God’s Word, then you’re right. One doesn’t need the approval or acceptance of man in the matter.

Seek to please God and man and you’ll please neither, serve God’s interest and you’ll be able to serve man’s need and that will be pleasing to both… HSAY

Rom 14:21 "It is good not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything that causes your brother to stumble."

The greatest exercise of our rights is doing what is right for the benefit of another. This thought changes everything when I when ask myself: How can I live in a way that helps to encourage others in Jesus? Don't be afraid of sacrifice unless your sacrifice is self-serving rather than sanctifying.

sacrificing self for the good of others; no greater way to show the love of the suffering servant (Isa 53) ... HSAY

“Now the Syrians on one of their raids had carried off a little girl from the land of Israel, and she worked in the service of Naaman's wife. She said to her mistress, “Would that my lord were with the prophet who is in Samaria! He would cure him of his leprosy.” (2 Kg 5:2)

Interesting the very people Naaman attacked was his only hope for being cured. And it came at the direction of a young girl who would appear just in being bitter concerning what was taken from her. Yet, while this very young girl never got all she wanted she gave all she had.  And God was so impressed that He recorded what she gave despite her circumstances.  It’s one thing to serve out of abundance and completely different challenge to serve during affliction.  

It’s not what you take out of life but what you give to it that’s of real value… HSAY

“But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:” Phl 2:7

Too many people are more concerned about making an impression rather than an impact in others’ lives. But, selfishness brings about discord.  Paul therefore stressed spiritual unity, asking the Philippians to love and serve one another in one spirit and purpose of bearing another’s cross with them. Again, it’s not about making oneself look better, but helping others to become better. This is the image of Jesus, willing to give up his eternal equalities with the Father and the Holy Spirit, the creator becoming the creation, in order to serve and meet our needs first (vs 5). This was Jesus’ attitude of choice, and should be ours. One can expect or desire to be served or you can look for opportunities to serve others.  What one chooses will either reflect the image of Jesus or self. The best thing a man can do is simply be quite and serve. When he starts complaining how and who he’s going to serve it becomes about him. It’s not about you being better, but rather helping others to become better at reflecting the image of Jesus!

The only person you should try to be better than, is the person you were yesterday!
