Psa 103:10-11 “He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him.” 

God is sovereign over the details of our lives and has put us where we are for our good and to share the Lord’s renown.  Like Esther, we can’t let our past hinder our future in the Lord (Est 4:14; 16). It’s the invincible sovereignty of God that the presence of hope drives out all fear. There may by-products of our past sins, but we’re not to be prisoners to it.

The very sins we can’t seem to forget are the very sins that God can’t seem to remember (Psa 103:12) … HSAY

Psa 18:3 “I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.”

What man announces as unworthy God often uses to announce He who is worthy. Jephthah (Jgs 11) was a mighty man of valor. Yet, he was an illegitimate son of Gilead, and thus was chased out of the country by his half-brothers. He suffered as a result of another's decision and not for any wrong he had done. Yet in spite of his brothers' rejection, God used him and he eventually judged Israel for six-years. Licking your wounds only serves the animals not man. Jephthah didn’t allow his circumstances interfere in serving God. While man may label you unworthy, God often calls the such to proclaim He who is worthy, Jesus, that’s when worth comes to the surface. God used a harlot, Rahab to do his work (Heb 11:31). It was a harlot at the well that Jesus witnessed to and used to reach a village (Jn 4). Don’t blame what your circumstance have done to you, it only delays what God can do with you. Before you complain about your circumstances consider the little-girl in (2 Kgs 5) who despite being kidnapped by an enemy captain to be a slave, was willing to be used by God to direct her master to Elisha and eventually to God. Blaming your circumstances is choosing to hold on to your crutches.

Your greatest ministry will often come out of your greatest hurt.

Eph 1:11 “In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined in him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will.”

If one truly understood God’s sovereignty, that He has the authoritative final say according to his will, would it not be wise to go ahead and give him the first say! Knowing God was in control during histories darkest hour, at the cross, know He’s as well in control at your darkest hour. It’s the Father’s divine intervention that directs all things, animate and inanimate, seen and unseen, good and evil towards His eternal purpose. Meaning His will prevails. So, what appears as a problem to us, is also purposeful for us or God would not permit it. Instead of a river, God may provide us a brook, which may be running today and dried up tomorrow. Why? To teach us not to rest in our blessings, but in the blesser Himself!  If God’s not sovereign He’s Not The God, just another god that can be worshiped, but not counted on! (1 Kg 18:27).  While we do have free will and with it determine our own choice, we don’t determine the results. That belongs solely to the divine will of the Father.

When you go through struggles, the sovereignty of God is the pillow upon which to lay your head!
