“For our conversation is in heaven; from
whence also we look for the Saviour Jesus Christ” Phl
3:20
Consider something as simple as a job
promotion or transfer, with excitement we go to great lengths to pack up,
relocate and transfer our surroundings and life to promote and accommodate the
change that has taken place. We make effort to quickly mirror our new environment
and maximize the opportunity we’ve been giving and further the cause. Ever new employer expects your loyalty and
public promotion of the position you’ve been giving, and in response you take
ownership of that responsibility, just like you would our family name and act
and contribute in a way that endorses and adds to the value and worth of its
name. In the same way, Christians ought
to promote heaven’s interests and live a life worthy of their Heavenly
citizenship. Too many Christians have
accepted the promotion of eternal life in Christ, but have failed to transfer
their heart, loyalty and promotion to heaven.
They still seek earthly pleasures and treasures of the past instead of
heavenly ones. Paul told the Colossians to remember that they are citizens of
heaven, where Christ lives. If you were promoted to an industry competitor,
would your new firm be pleased with you promoting your old environment?
Have you transferred your heart and loyalty
to your heavenly citizenship or are there still things you have to pack-up?
