“For bodily exercise profiteth little; but
godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is
and of that which is to come.” 1 Tim 4:8
For
many the start of this passage is favorably quoted…and while truthful the real value
lies in the fullness of the passage; not only for oneself but those in their life
who benefit from their spiritual exercise.
One of my greatest joys and fulfillment is seeing our children though
outside the home attending church worship and under the influence of God’s
word. That’s a legacy that provides a
greater value than any worldly inheritance: “The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of God shall stand
forever” Isa 40:8. The value of what
you leave behind is not what is seen, it’s the image of Christ that one was
able to impress and weave into the lives of others hearts that is truly of
value.
“We
all have footprints we leave in the sand, the question is, will you be a big
heal, or a great soul?”
