“For
he (Hezekiah) clave
to the Lord, and departed not from following him, but kept his commandments,
which the Lord commanded Moses.” II Kg 18:6
To
see the promises of God prevail one must live in the righteousness of Him who
provides them. Hezekiah withstood the threats of Assyria’s words to destroy Judah
(II Kg 18) by doing what he always did, “that
which was right in the sight of the Lord” (11 Kg 18:3). Hezekiah when
threatened by worldly power that besieged Jerusalem, blasphemed God, reviled himself,
and solicited his people to revolt responded with spiritual strength (II Kg
19:1). The power and promises of God prevail when man does “that which is right
in the sight of the Lord.” When faith in God’s righteousness arises, a certainty
comes that when we call, He will answer… that when we ask, we will receive… that
when we knock, the door will be open (Rev 3:20).
God
does not make promises that are too good to be true.
HSAY…
