Isa 59: 19b “… When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the
Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.”
Isaiah, due to the
prevailing sin in the world that causes truth to fail, illustrates that he who
departs from such sin makes himself a prey (vs 15). And while such a man has no
intercessor on his behalf, he does have the promise of God’s right arm and righteousness
to sustain him (vs 16). Thus, when the enemy approaches as a flood of evil
against him the Holy Spirit lifts a standard; a prevailing wind of truth
through Christ and the gospel that restrains and over-powers their evil efforts.
And God will deal with them as they deserve, according to retribution (Rev 13:10). If we prevail in fleeing
evil, God will prevail in causing evil to flee us! Refuse to let the world
corrupt you (Jm 1:27), and you’ll find the promise of the Holy Spirt will
comfort you.
If God delivers you from
evil, don’t stay in touch with it!
